Asking for help is a sign of strength and hope.
We often seek help when we have exhausted our own resources and our usual ways of trying to manage have broken down. We can be left anxious and depressed, or conflicted and unsatisfied in our relationships, perhaps compelled towards certain behaviours or retreating from people and life, unable to focus on work or other activities. Sometimes our patterns of relating with other people, whether in close relationships or just generally, unintentionally add further stress and conflict. We can feel more isolated and demoralised. Reaching out for help is therefore a courageous act and one of hope. Reaching out for help in the form of psychotherapy can be a first step towards developing more understanding of oneself and healing from the emotional traumas we have been working so hard to manage.

The Benefits of Therapy
Psychotherapy can be an effective tool in providing you with the necessary support and training to overcome the challenges you face. By seeking therapy, you are taking responsibility and action to change what no longer works in your life. Many studies have shown throughout the years that psychotherapy is an effective form of treating and managing mental illnesses and other emotional disorders.
Whilst there are many approaches to psychological therapy, for real and enduring change we need to understand what is driving our difficulties. Getting to the core enables us to understand what has been trapping us and facing the complex feelings we have inside enables us to work towards emotional freedom and a deep understanding of ourselves. This almost inevitably leads to greater self-acceptance and self-compassion along with a renewed connection to our will, a clearer sense of what is right for us, our internal compass, as it were, and how we can best navigate the vicissitudes of life.
“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.”
